The painting of the body id very important to the final product. Here I display my first attempt at body painting. More needs to be done of course. the gray undercoat needs to be restored without affecting the body. Also, trim and possible accents need to be added. In the old days, I brushed on aluminum or silver paint to fake chrome. With a trick of using the paint in the cap of the paint bottle, I managed to get a pretty chrome like shine. Now I use the new Malotow Chrome Pen that is simply amazing. If my hand is steady, it really looks like chrome parts. Normall I would have probably decked the car body. That means cut off the chrome stripes, emblems, door handles, etc. This was customizing. I decided not to as I want to see how good I can do the Chrome detail.
Above notice the hood has a scoop. It is not attached yet. I need to cut a hole in the hood to clear the carburators on the 427 big block and the SOHC engines. The Small block Cobra fits fine, as it should. Its little brother 260 came as an option in the real truck. I am hesatent on cutting the hood because once cut, it is hard to grow back ;-) I may cut it later so I can put the hood on any of the 3 engines. You can see the firewall and if you zoom in, notice it has some detail painted in. The radiator needs to be repainted and glued to the bulkhead at the right of the hood.
